A year after Google debuted Chrome with a bang, the browser may have failed to meet expectations. But recent moves by the search giant signal a new campaign in the war against rivals, analysts said today.

“From the outside, the thought last year was that Google would push Chrome a lot more than it has,” said Ray Valdes, an analyst for Gartner, who said he expected Chrome to have a larger slice of the browser market 12 months after its September 2008 launch. “But with this deal, Google is signaling to the market and to competitors, that it’s taking a more traditional approach to marketing Chrome.”

Valdes was referring to news that Google has struck a deal with Sony to add Chrome to the consumer electronics maker’s Vaio line of PCs and is exploring similar arrangements with other OEMs.

Google confirmed that Chrome will come on new Sony systems. “We’re continuing to explore ways to make Chrome accessible to even more people,” said a company spokesman. “We are in the process of testing one such channel with Sony.”

The Financial Times , which first reported the deal, said that Google is talking with other computer makers about similar deals, while the Wall Street Journal said Sony has acknowledged it will be setting Chrome as the default browser on its Vaio-branded machines.

Although similar deals are commonplace for search engines competing for market share, this is the first time that a non-Microsoft browser has bought its way onto new PCs. “Call it the Microsoftian approach to the market,” Valdes said.

“Absolutely, this is a signal by Google,” agreed Sheri McLeish, an analyst with Forrester Research. “It’s significant because [such deals are] a really fast-track way to grow market share. It’s got Microsoft in the position it is today.”

A year after Google announced Chrome, rival Microsoft remains the dominant browser maker. Web metrics firm Net Applications puts Internet Explorer (IE) at 66.6% share of the browser market. Chrome, meanwhile, holds only a 2.9% share.

Some, including Microsoft’s rivals, argue that IE owes its first-place position to its inclusion with Windows, the world’s most widely-used operating system. Norwegian browser maker Opera Software, for instance, used that reasoning when it complained to European antitrust regulators; they have filed charges against Microsoft for shielding IE from competition by bundling it with Windows.

Microsoft has been forced into several concessions by the accusations, including a recent proposal that it will offer a browser “ballot screen” to European customers that lets them choose from at least five browsers — including Chrome — when they go online for the first time.

Last February, Google joined the EU’s case against Microsoft as an “interested third party” that is allowed to offer comment to regulators.

“Google has gained a relatively low rate of conversion,” said McLeish, talking about its efforts to get users to switch to Chrome. “The removal of the beta label [by Google] was a huge step forward to make people feel comfortable choosing Chrome.”

The deal with Sony, said McLeish, is a milestone because Google was obviously able to convince the PC maker that its browser is a legitimate contender. “What’s important with the Sony deal is that it means Chrome is real. It could pose tremendous risk to Sony if, for example, Chrome wasn’t secure enough for consumers.

“So for Google to get the deal done, I’m sure Chrome had to go through some rigorous technical testing to make sure it was a viable browser,” she said.

Whether the deal with Sony or other computer vendors can actually move the needle for Chrome is a different story, both analysts agreed.

Gartner’s Valdes remains pessimistic about Chrome’s chances. “In terms of real market adoption, it’s not going to have a tremendous impact,” he said. “You can’t make a frontal assault [on IE], not these days. You want to do a flanking maneuver. Chrome OS is a flanking maneuver.”

Chrome OS, which Google announced in early July — but which will not be available on computers until the second half of 2010 — will feature Chrome as its built-in browser. Google’s OS, in fact, will be all about the browser, as the operating system is meant as a platform for Web-based applications.

Analysts generally see Chrome OS as a strong long-term threat to Windows’ hegemony .

McLeish said Google has its work cut out for it in the browser battle. “There are three key factors in users’ selection of a browser. One is brand, where Google has an opportunity. The second, how does it relate to innovation. Does the browser provide something new or different that I can’t get elsewhere that will improve my Web experience?

“The third comes down to peer influence,” McLeish said. “Google has brand and innovation, but [technology influencers] have not given Chrome the lift that Google would have liked.”

And any IE rival, including Google, faces tremendous hurdles in businesses, which are loath to switch their workers to a different browser, especially one without the kind of management tools that Microsoft provides for IE. Nearly a quarter of computers worldwide, for instance, still run IE6, an eight-year-old browser that even Microsoft would like to see go away .

Still, these are unsettled times for browser makers, and anything’s possible. “The browser market is heated up right now,” said McLeish. “The choices are there, which is a great boon for users.”

“There are a lot of good browsers out there,” echoed Valdes. “Safari and Firefox and IE8. But they’re all moving targets.”

With consumers increasingly using laptop PCs around the home to access multimedia and social-networking services, Toshiba has designed a tablet PC intended to offer quick access to the same services without some of the hassles of a full-blown PC.

The JournE tablet has a 7-inch touch screen and is based on the Windows Embedded OS so it will instantly spring to life when switched on. It connects to a Wi-Fi network and supports a range of media formats including JPEG images, MP3 and Windows Media audio files and MPEG4, H.264, Divx and Windows Media video files.

Access to services such as YouTube, MSN Messenger, Picasa, Flickr and RSS feeds are built in as are Internet Explorer and Windows Multimedia Player 9.0. European models of the device will also support access to the Acetrax video on demand service.

A photo of the tablet released by Toshiba showed a home screen with 15 square icons, linked to the services mentioned and other functions including an organizer, user manual and settings screen.

An optional cradle adds a USB and HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interactive) connector. The latter will enable it to be hooked-up to a TV set so content photos, video or content downloaded or streamed from the Internet can be viewed on a television. The JournE has 1GB of internal memory that can be extended to up to 32GB with a plug-in SD card.

Battery life is around 14 hours, according to Toshiba, so it will last considerably longer than a laptop.

It will be available later this year and will cost €249 (US$356). Pricing and launch details for other markets were not immediately announced

I have generally supported the government’s border search policies. But I am horrified by the recent DHS Privacy Office’s approval of searches of electronic devices without suspicion. It is wrong for many reasons; from the constitutional to the logistical.

Government does have the right to conduct searches when there is even a slight reason for suspicion. I wouldn’t want to impede the intuition of well-seasoned U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers. They are on the front lines, and it is reasonable to give them some latitude. But that doesn’t extend to pulling someone out just because they feel like it.

Constitutionally, this policy has been examined by others more knowledgeable than me. Suffice to say that it is horrifying that a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil could be subject to illegal search and seizure on the basis of … nothing — no evidence, and not even a shred of suspicion.

Beyond that, though, there is the dubious opinion of the Department of Homeland Security’s Privacy Office that searching electronic devices is no different than searching a briefcase or backpack. That is one of the most clueless statements to come out of the DHS. It is a simple matter to show that a person caught with physical contraband had the intent to carry that property. It’s a lot harder to argue that all the data on a person’s computer is there by the volition of that person. And searching a laptop computer is a much greater violation of one’s privacy than searching a suitcase. Laptops often contain data that would never be physically carried by a traveler, such as bank records, health data and information about relatives and friends. And a corporate device could contain sensitive information, company secrets, data that the company is bound by law to protect. Do we really want ICE officers making copies of such information? If there was a legitimate suspicion to justify the search, I wouldn’t object to any of that information being exposed to the searchers. But searching a computer without suspicion unnecessarily exposes a plethora of private information that would not otherwise be available to law enforcement authorities. Bureaucrats should always place themselves in the shoes of those they are regulating before writing policies. I would have liked to have seen the staff of the Privacy Office make their personal laptops available to the public before they made this ruling.

And here is a question to ponder: What type of crimes are you looking for when you conduct a suspicionless search? The interest of ICE officers presumably is to find information that protects the country from outside harm and to make sure that people properly declare information upon entering the country. But computer-related crimes are not abetted by being overseas. If a known criminal is entering the country with electronic devices in tow, I’d say go ahead and search the devices. In the absence of any suspicion at all, I’d expect restraint.

Finally, consider the logistics of laptop data searches. They take exponentially more time and training to perform than physical searches. An ICE officer who lacks the proper training for such searches is not going to find anything that an actual criminal wants to hide on his computer. Such a search is certain to be a waste of time. If the agency does come up with properly trained officers to do these searches, suspicionless searches will still be a waste of time — just a lot more time. Pulling data off of a laptop takes a lot of time, even if the data is just being copied. And then there is the issue of losing access to your own data for an extended period of time, which I’ll discuss below.

Suspicionless searches will also open the door to training searches. I have been subjected to random physical searches at airports many times because a new officer was in training. Those searches took only a minute or so and were not a major inconvenience. But a training search of a computer will be a time-consuming inconvenience that unnecessarily exposes data to untrained people.

More critical than wasting travelers’ time, though, is wasting the time of agents. After the 9/11 attacks, airports implemented random searches. Among those searched back then were toddlers and former Vice President Al Gore. While Gore might have been upset with the manner in which he lost the 2000 presidential election, I don’t think anyone seriously thought he could be a danger to a commercial airline. Other than the toddlers, I doubt that there was anyone in line who was a less imminent danger than Gore. But random searches were the order of the day, and officers were diverted from doing things that might have actually safeguarded the transportation system. Now, with suspicionless searches of electronic devices, agents will be diverted once again from doing searches that are motivated by legitimate cause. This is a problem because our resources are not limitless. We must use our limited resources as best we can, and that means at least limiting searches to those with suspicion.

Consequences

So, let’s say that your computer has been singled out for a search. What happens with the data? It is likely that the DHS will make copies of it. But the agents might decide to confiscate the computer, and they don’t have to have a reason for doing so. They could even do it just for training purposes. What then? You should worry about that, because the DHS has a history of compromised data, meaning it has botched the handling of its own data, held on machines it was presumably familiar with. Should we expect the DHS, then, to handle your confiscated data any better?

The DHS would like to calm your fears with the promise that it will encrypt data, “where needed.” This is an example of how clueless the DHS Privacy Office is. The statement presumes there will be instances when encryption is not needed. But given that the ICE is collecting data without suspicion, then by definition the ICE does not know what data these devices hold. Shouldn’t, then, the default setting be to encrypt and ask questions later?

But if the DHS did decide that your data should be encrypted, should you take any comfort in that? I wouldn’t. If your laptop is confiscated, the DHS would have to encrypt the entire device, where no encryption is likely to exist. Encrypting a laptop can be very complicated and, if not properly done, can destroy all the data. But assuming the DHS does manage to do the encryption properly, will you ever regain access to all your data? I have my doubts there as well. It just amazes me that the Privacy Office does not seem to understand all the issues that accompany data encryption.

And confiscation is another area where the Privacy Office’s contention that this new policy is no different from what applies to backpacks is laughably suspect. If a backpack is confiscated, it can be easily and inexpensively replaced, and any information it contained is likely minimal. But a laptop is a major expense, not easily replaced. We all know we should back up our data, but most of us still don’t do it as often as we should. And even those of us who are fanatical about backups tend to slack off when we’re traveling. People whose devices are confiscated will therefore be denied access to their own data and could suffer drastic consequences. I’m talking about small businesses that are forced to close because they couldn’t bear the expense of replacing a laptop and all its software licenses, or students who fail classes because they don’t have access to their notes. Grim consequences for something done on the whim of an ICE officer.

How not to handle all this

This is a bad policy, but don’t think the answer to it is to try to hide your data. Some people have advocated encrypting drives and then refusing to provide the password to customs officials. This is terrible advice that will surely lead to confiscation and arrest. Such unusual precautions to prevent the examination of your information will automatically justify suspicion. You can claim that you are attempting to protect your civil liberties, and good luck with that. The officers confronting you are not going to congratulate you on your knowledge of the Constitution. They are going to see you as someone who is employing the same tactics as criminals. In their eyes, you will look suspicious. That is their job.

The majority of ICE officers are well-meaning and do not want to inconvenience anyone unnecessarily. They take their jobs to heart and see their work as necessary to stopping clear and present threats to the country. I respect their intentions. That does not mean that I want them to have the ability to do whatever they want.

And as bad as all this sounds, remember that when you, a U.S. citizen, enter a foreign country, you have no rights at all.

Mini-laptops based on Arm chips are set to make their way to users, which could heat up the battle in a space dominated by netbooks with Intel’s Atom chips.

Sharp last week announced the PC-Z1, also called the NetWalker, which will be one of the first mini-laptops based on an Arm chip to reach store shelves. The device has a 5-inch touch screen and a 68-key keyboard and offers 10 hours of battery life. It is designed for those who rely on the Web for computing, and it will start shipping in Japan by the end of September.

Many similar devices with larger screens may become available by the end of this year. They will be based on Arm chips designed by companies such as Freescale Semiconductor, Nvidia and Qualcomm. No major PC maker has officially announced Arm-based mini-laptops, which have been called “smartbooks” by some chip makers, though Dell is investigating the concept.

Smartbooks are designed to have similar characteristics to netbooks, including compact keyboards and screens. The devices are designed as alternatives to netbooks, most of which are based on Intel’s Atom chips and come with Microsoft’s Windows OS. The first smartbooks will come with Linux, as Arm-based chips do not support Windows XP.

But at least one major PC maker has questioned the viability of such products. Asustek Computer CEO Jerry Shen last week said he saw no “clear market” for smartbooks and that the company had no plans to ship them. Asustek demonstrated a mini-laptop with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform at the Computex trade show in June, running Google’s Android open-source operating system. Asustek introduced the first widely popular netbook when it rolled out the Eee PC in 2007.

Keith Kressin, senior director of product management at Qualcomm, disagreed with Asustek. There is a market for smartbooks, which are better for people who rely more on the Web for computing, Kressin said. “We’re not trying to emulate the PC experience,” he said.

Smartbooks provide a longer battery life, as Arm chips draw less power than Intel’s Atom chips, Kressin said. Kressin also highlighted other benefits, including instant access to the Web and quick startup compared with Atom-based netbooks.

“Every OEM has their own vision of what a smartbook is prior to entering the market,” Kressin said. “I’ll leave it to Asus to make the decision on what they want to bring to market.”

Low prices and longer battery life may draw some attention, but Arm chips need better application support to compete with Intel chips in the short term, said Dan Olds, principal analyst at Gabriel Consulting Group.

“As far as notebooks and netbooks go, it’s still an x86 world. The inability to run standard x86 operating systems makes any Arm-based device a nonstarter for consumers and business alike,” Olds said. Smartbooks could take off if the software ecosystem surrounding Linux operating systems were to expand, he said.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon platform will support a number of operating systems, including Google’s upcoming Chrome OS, Kressin said. Snapdragon-based smartbooks will become available by the fourth quarter, he said. Qualcomm has said it is working with companies including Toshiba, Compal Communications, Foxconn and High Tech Computer on Snapdragon-based devices. Kressin wouldn’t comment on whether those will be smartbooks. Toshiba has already launched the TG01 handset based on the first-generation Snapdragon platform.

Snapdragon, which is already commercially available, includes an Arm-based processor, mobile broadband communications and graphics in one package. The company also plans to start sampling a faster version of Snapdragon in the fourth quarter.

Chip company Freescale, known for its microcontrollers and embedded chips, is also pushing its Arm-based chips into smartbooks. Sharp’s NetWalker has Freescale’s i.MX515 chip, which has a processor based on Arm’s Cortex-A8 core and can scale in performance up to 1GHz. NetWalker is the first of many new devices that could hit the market by the end of this year or early next year, said Glen Burchers, director of Freescale’s consumer segment.

The initial products could be clamshell devices with 9-inch or 10-inch screens. The Sharp device doesn’t have 3G connectivity, but the upcoming devices will, Burchers said.

Smartbooks based on Freescale chips initially will come with Canonical’s Ubuntu Linux OS. But the lack of support for a full Windows OS such as Windows XP could slow down the adoption of the devices, the chip makers said.

Linux-based mini-laptops have seen slow adoption, with many consumers preferring the familiarity of Windows. Over the past few quarters, about 90 percent of netbooks in mature markets, and as many as 70 percent in developing countries, have shipped with Windows, according to Gartner.

Despite the doubt surrounding Linux adoption, Burchers said a better user interface in the OS could make the device easier to use.

“It is the single biggest challenge the smartbook market faces,” Burchers said. “It’s not really the function of the Linux systems that is a problem, it’s the user interface. It was originally geared toward a techie user. It was created by geeks, for geeks.”

However, Internet-savvy Linux operating systems with better user interfaces are on the horizon, Burchers said. Google in July announced it was developing the Chrome OS, a lightweight operating system based on Linux and geared toward people who do a lot of Web-based computing.

Freescale and Qualcomm are both working with Google to develop the Chrome OS, the companies said. Freescale’s Burchers also said Canonical is making major changes in the next version of Ubuntu Linux, with a big focus on user interface and usability.

Ultimately, a snappier user interface and more applications could help smartbooks find a niche as devices that behave like smartphones, but are sized like netbooks, analyst Olds said.

“There is some attraction to the low-power story, mainly arising from the ability to use ultra-small form factors and to also provide long battery life,” he said.

Are netbooks beating up MacBooks and stealing their lunch money? Don’t believe everything you read. The Macalope also has two different looks at two new Apple ads as Apple makes some loose claims and a blogger makes some loose interpretations.

Survey does not say!

Late last week the Mac Web was all aflutter as a survey showed that Apple was losing back-to-school sales to netbooks.

Oh! No!

Oh! Yes! According to Retrevo, “the majority of student laptop shoppers will not consider buying a Mac.” Clearly Apple is done and someone should stick a comically oversized fork into the side of One Infinite Loop to indicate as much.”

Well, before you start calling giant-novelty-fork rental outlets to get some quotes, the Macalope has a few questions about this survey. Like, who said what now again? Okay, the horny one hasn’t visited all of the Internet yet (getting close, though!), but he had never heard of Retrevo before. Now all of a sudden they’re telling him his laptop is out of fashion with the kids.

Second, note that the survey was not of the general public (or even of the ’80s New Wave band General Public), but of visitors to Retrevo’s site. What does Retrevo do? They’re a shopping comparison site that shows the prices of products at various Web outlets. So one would expect that visitors to their site are, by nature, low-cost shoppers. As Apple doesn’t compete in the low end of the market, you might also expect them to be pre-disposed to buy something other than a MacBook.

Somewhat dissatisfied with the results, the Macalope decided to conduct his own survey and the results were startlingly different! According to the results–which are highly scientific, just take the Macalope’s word for it like everyone did Retrevo’s–a full 97 percent of back-to-school laptop shoppers are buying a MacBook! Now, some might say that there’s a selection bias in only surveying visitors to a site with a clear disposition in one direction.

But those people apparently would not be Retrevo employees.

Look, the Macalope isn’t saying that Apple’s not actually losing sales to netbooks. He really doesn’t know. What he is saying is that this survey provides little to no predictive value of what Apple’s share of the back-to-school market is, relative to netbooks.

But it sure did drive a lot of links to Retrevo’s site. Mission accomplished!

Ad nauseam

Apple’s got some new ads out this week, at least one of which is likely to rub some people the wrong way.

By the Macalope’s recollection, the ads to date had mostly stated that PCs were plagued by viruses and malware while Macs were not. Which, of course, is true. This ad, however, states that Macs are “more secure”.

Hmm. Are they?

Okay, you could argue that “more secure” means the same thing–that they’re not subject to viruses and malware.

You could also argue that “more secure” is a relativistic term based solely on individual perception and is perfectly logical within a Jungian paradigm as humans are flawed beings and such differences are ultimately unknowable.

Or you could argue “more secure” means “Macs are protected by a magical fairy pony princess so shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!”

But the Macalope would argue that “more secure” means “better implements security technologies and methodologies.” And, sadly, Apple’s somewhat behind the game in that department. While Macs do both “taste great” and are “less filling,” they have not so much been “more secure” as “less attacked.” Snow Leopard makes some steps in the right direction–stack overflow protection for 64-bit apps and some kind of anti-malware protection–but the Macalope’s sources tell him that it still doesn’t fully implement ASLR (library randomization). If true, that’s pretty disappointing since developers will now likely have to recompile twice: once for 64-bit and then later to take advantage of ASLR. Meanwhile, both Vista and Windows 7 have already fully implemented ASLR.

Low market share continues to protect the Mac but, no matter how nice the neighborhood, you can only leave your houses unlocked for so long before something bad happens.

Ad hominem

Over at ZDNet, our old friend Adrian Kingsley-Hughes saw the same ads and asked Is Apple worried by Windows 7?

The Macalope loves this kind of title. It takes a company of 35,000 employees and reduces it to one simpering Dr. Smith or C-3PO running around squealing “We’re doomed! Doooooomed!”

But it is interesting after so many months of trashing Vista than [sic] Apple is now focusing on the PC platform rather than Windows.

With the vast majority of PC users running Windows, the Macalope asks: is there a difference? And remember, pretty much each ad starts like this:

Mac: Hello, I’m a Mac.

PC: And I’m a PC.

The Macalope took a look and the ads haven’t mentioned Vista since last year. Anyway which version of Windows would you mention right now? The most recent release that was a flop (Vista), the eight-year-old operating system that most people are still using (XP), or the supposedly decent release that hasn’t come out yet (Windows 7)?

Maybe the Windows 7 brand is too strong to go up against and that Apple realizes this and is changing tactics.

Or maybe it’s just the brand that most people don’t even know about yet. Apple didn’t start really attacking Vista until it was at least available on the shelves. The Macalope himself gave Windows 7 some credit above, but it still forces a lot of users to make some uncomfortable choices. If you need any help writing those ads, Apple, just give the pointy one a call. (They don’t need any help.)

Adrian closes by sagely noting:

Expect to see more ads!

You think?

China successfully developed large-scale high-performance digital Emergency Power Supply

From Hunan University hp pp2182l battery, led by Professor Dai Yuxing developed “digital emergency power and uninterruptible power supply system, key technology and product development series” technology before the formal adoption of the technology, the identification of the building sector organizations.
At present, our country set up the second most used diesel engine power increase of the model group to address the power system, fire safety systems, large-scale manufacturing enterprises in areas such as high-rise elevator due to a sudden demand for electricity blackouts hp pp2182d battery. Although Europe and the United States and other developed areas are also commonly used by such a power emergency mode, but it is still more obvious shortcomings: You can not be used for emergency fire; demands for power can not be the same substation; diesel engine there is the noise group, and weak, long start-up time required, such as staff on duty.
Professor Dai Yuxing, said the number of newly developed model of the emergency power supply is remotely controlled by computer, no exhaust smoke and vibration, start-up time less than 0.1 seconds, and widely used in fire-fighting system and power hp pb995a battery systems.

“From manufacturing to create China’s innovation and development of lithium power”

At the eighth China International Hi-Tech Fair hp pb994a battery held successfully in the global CEO forum on the basis of the lithium Taiwan CEO Summit in October 13, 2006 in Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and the successful convening of a successful closing. Forum has been the strong support of the Ministry of Commerce and attention. Shenzhen Bureau of Trade and Industry Yong Yin, deputy director of the municipal government and the United States on behalf of International Data Group (IDG) Mr. He Weiwen, director of South China, attended the forum and delivered an important speech. Phoenix Satellite TV, Guangdong TV, Shenzhen TV, radio, Shenzhen, Shenzhen Special Zone, Shenzhen City, Shenzhen Daily, Shenzhen Daily, the Chinese battery network, Sina, Sohu and other network media hp pavilion zv6000 battery to the scene more than 10 interviews were conducted and reported
The theme of this forum is: from manufacturing to create – the lithium-power development and innovation. The purpose of the times to lead the development of lithium to enhance China’s power industry lithium innovation, promote enterprise lithium between peer interaction and learning, from manufacturing to create, promote China’s power industry in raising lithium technology, improve quality, strengthen the exchanges between the cross – and cooperation, seek common ground and common catch up with the world advanced level of lithium to achieve environmental protection and sustainable development strategies, for national rejuvenation and development of industry and work hand in hand.
Held in March this year the South China High-Level Forum on lithium difference hp hstnn-lb31 battery is that the CEO Summit lithium to senior leaders and entrepreneurs as the main body, the invitation, including Taiwan and Hong Kong, a well-known lithium chairman or general manager of enterprise, Li Xinhua China to explore the road of innovation and development, management of updates, the global market positioning and how to meet global opportunities and challenges. Taiwan and Hong Kong’s well-known enterprises, the highest power lithium leadership meeting in person and has done a wonderful speech. For example, Tin Shui Taiwan Electronics Corp., Taiwan’s million-line Industrial Co., Ltd., Taiwan jinfeng Precision Industry Co., Ltd., the Hong Kong-Hong Sheng Electronics Co., Ltd. and so on. China’s well-known lithium, such as divine power battery Co., Ltd. Tianjin, Shenzhen BAK Battery Co., Ltd., Electronics Co., Ltd. Shenzhen, Huizhou TCL King to Battery Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Branch Energy Limited gifted and so on, more than ten large-scale general manager of enterprise in this forum. Shenzhen Electronics Co., Ltd. Technical Director Dr. Huang Suiyang, presided over the forum. As host of the opening ceremony of the forum, Dr. Huang said to the guests a warm welcome, and then introduced the purpose and significance of the forum. He pointed out that China’s lithium power after years of development, in the global lithium industry has occupied a pivotal position. China’s lithium lithium number of enterprises total global hp f4809a battery electricity for 82% of the total number of enterprises, production of lithium batteries, 31%, but sales of lithium battery is only 16%. Lithium the total number of enterprises in China, while production of small, it indicates that China’s lithium business in small-scale, low production efficiency. China’s shipments of large lithium batteries, but sales of smaller lithium batteries, lithium shows that China entered the low-end market only, which were high-end products. We must be enterprises from manufacturing to innovation-based enterprises to change. Leadership at all levels of government, such as the Shenzhen Municipal Government has repeatedly proposed to by the manufacturers in Shenzhen city into an innovative city. China’s future development of lithium-electric power industry is not a simple expansion of production, increasing sales, but rather through independent innovation, research and development of new products, develop new markets and products to high-end market. We hope that through this forum as a platform for national battery industry to send a message hp f4486b battery, innovation and development of the market, the times and the common policy is the only way to sustainable growth and to respond to global opportunities and challenges the best choice.
Then one of the organizers of the Shenzhen Electronics Co., Ltd. Mr. Chairman to words of welcome. He said, “I am very honored by the eighth high-paying event of the east wind, and IDG company, together invited to Taiwan and overseas Chinese in the lithium industry, various guests and friends. To take this opportunity, on behalf of all my colleagues to help the company to Kai expressed deep appreciation to you. Innovation is the development of each country, each nation, each region are faced with challenges, we in the earth, the embrace of a sun, we are in a blue sky, an ocean to embrace, let us mutual benefit and common development, jointly create a lithium power industry new ideas, new results, Finally, I wish you good health and successful living innovation. ”
Shenzhen Bureau of Trade and Industry Deputy Secretary for Yong Yin, on behalf of the Shenzhen Municipal Government hp f2024b battery attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered a short speech. He pointed out that China’s lithium for more than half of enterprises located in Shenzhen and the Pearl River Delta, Shenzhen municipal government has attached great importance to the battery industry. The forum brought together the three elite of lithium, lithium power to explore the cause of the Chinese development strategy, is a very meaningful event. Shenzhen Municipal Government put forward a “will be by the manufacturer in Shenzhen city into an innovation-oriented city,” the big goal, we encourage and support the high-tech enterprises in Shenzhen, innovative development, creating international brands, to build a world-class enterprise. Finally, I wish the forum great success.
After the opening ceremony, there have been eight lithium Taiwan business leaders to speak, is the first battery Co., Ltd. Tianjin power of God before Qin Liang Rui, president of the representatives of the Secretary, entitled “Industrial quality hp f2024a battery, the development of competition.” Leung first introduced the Secretary of Tianjin Co., Ltd. battery power of God’s history and the latest developments in business, and then analyzed the status of China’s lithium. Finally, China’s lithium how to deal with global challenges and success factors is the continued ability of technological progress, the stability of the scale of production capacity and reliable quality assurance capacity and strong capital capacity.
The second speaker is the Shenzhen BAK Battery Co., Ltd., executive vice president of the Dr. Mao Huanyu. He pointed out that China has become a manufacturing power and lithium, lithium electricity production increased year by year, but the battery is rapidly declining prices, China’s lithium has not yet entered the high-end markets, such as the field of portable computers. This is because China’s lower-quality lithium power and consistency of poor hp 367759-001 , with Japan and South Korea have greater lithium gap, high-end products have not yet reached the standards and requirements. China Lithium Power Enterprise should not have possession of the low-end market share, but must devote more resources to achieve technological innovation, production automation and management standardization, and promote China’s high-end lithium into the market as soon as possible.
Taiwan Shui Lin Electronic Co., Ltd. Tian Jin, General Manager, on behalf of the Council were made by Taiwan-funded enterprises. He pointed out that China’s development of lithium power industry must be more the face of the battery user and market demand. Huizhou TCL King to Battery Co., Ltd., Shenzhen Branch excellent and the Shenzhen Electronics Co., Ltd. Geesun Automation Technology Co., Ltd. has the leadership hp 417066-001 battery to speak. Forum of Shenzhen Electronics Co., Ltd. initiated the “China Li Xinhua Events” of preparing multi-volume Collected Works were also discussed.
Forum before the end of one of the organizers of the Shenzhen Electronics Co., Ltd. Miss Gao Ping, general manager made his concluding remarks. She pointed out that this forum is a lithium power industry in China event, experts, entrepreneurs and guests in a warm atmosphere, the exchange of technology, to publish a new perspective and look to the future, we hope that next year on March 8 to 10 Shenzhen in the Seventh-day international exhibition-cum-e4 battery “lithium power high-level forum in southern China” in again.
After the meeting, many guests have said that the forum was a great success and a complete hp 398876-001 battery, high-level, high levels of lithium for the Chinese enterprises and users with a platform to promote the lithium exchange between business peers and learning, promote China’s power industry to enhance lithium technological level and improve the quality of products, from manufacturing to the creative enterprise development, the world catch up with the level of lithium.

It is reported that Guinness zhenjiang Degussa Group and the company building the project will be implemented in two phases compaq evo n410 battery, the project and upon completion, will reach the scale of annual output 6000 tons.

Price of 1 U.S. dollars per watt of solar cells more than the market will usher in the great development

According to equipment manufacturers Applied Materials compaq evo n400 battery, said the size of solar cell market will be very large
Second week, Applied Materials Solar Business Group vice president and general manager Julie Solar Power 2006 Conference in a luncheon meeting during that time, the number of solar cell production plant manufacturers will have 10 production lines with annual production of each production line battery release the equivalent of 100 megawatts of electricity. He said that this is equivalent to 1,000 megawatt power generation plant
These solar cell plant will consume a large amount of silicon element. Julie estimates that for every watt of power need to 7 grams of silicon, which means that each solar cell plant needs 7,000 tons of silicon annually.
Julie pointed out that the demand for solar cells compaq evo n410c battery on the rise, calculated per megawatt solar energy prices have been falling in. In 1980, to produce 1 Watt of solar power panels is the price of 21 U.S. dollars, at present, the price per watt is 2.7 U.S. dollars.
By 2010, crystalline silicon solar cell panel prices will further decline to 1.25-1.5 U.S. dollars per watt, thin film solar panels is sold at 90 cents per watt dollars -1.3. The efficiency of thin film solar cells are lower compaq evo n400c battery.

According to equipment manufacturers Applied Materials, said the size of solar cell market will be very great.

Recently, the Economic Commission to take the lead in the city hp pavilion zv5000 battery, the city of Green Industry Association and the Urban Cycling Association bodies and experts come together again to discuss how to block the waste lead-acid batteries “wild turbulence Road”, bring it into the cycle of the economy have channel sequence.
The number of bicycle once the first city in the world in Shanghai, at the moment is rapidly evolving into the world’s largest production and consumption of electric bicycle city.
Followed by how to dispose of the massive annual update from lead-acid car batteries, has become a headache.
About 20,000 tons of spent lead-acid hp pavilion zd7000 battery.
City Cycling Association, according to incomplete statistics, the Shanghai market, “running” of the electric bikes have been as many as 1.7 million. At the present level of production and consumption, the general use of electric bicycles are a group of three or four lead-acid batteries, its weight in the 12-16 kg between. According to the average life of 1 year, the Shanghai this year, moving 1.7 million electric bikes, there are 1.7 million next year, group of about 20,000 tons of spent batteries.
Lead-acid battery is a cheap and stable power source for electric bikes that fit very popular means of transport. It is mainly from the lead, sulfuric acid, some other metal and plastic components. If the disposal of a good recovery, waste lead-acid batteries can be a valuable renewable resources. On the contrary, it can easily cause serious environmental pollution.
Little effect on industry self-regulation hp pavilion dv9000 battery.
A few years ago, spent lead-acid batteries around, “fled” serious “black pollution.” Revealed a number of our vendors, to low-cost stalls to buy from the vehicle batteries, in situ to acid waste into the sewer, and then the battery lead and plastic shell gate shipment to the field with indigenous broken, melting. Not only endanger the city roads and drainage systems, but also a number of foreign cities and towns so that the environment has been devastating
Shanghai Bicycle Industry Association in the organization, the Shanghai group of electric bicycle manufacturer with modern technology and professional recovery of waste lead-acid batteries, renewable sources of lead metal smelter hp pavilion dv8000 battery Shanghai Cooperation flywheel, the conclusion of a “waste battery recycling industry and the Convention on the prevention of secondary pollution “to try to approach through industry self-regulation, the city spent lead-acid batteries are the flywheel factory, dispose of unity. But the effect is not obvious. Batteries continue around the side of “flow”, while the flywheel plant still “eat” is not enough.
One required the establishment of comprehensive utilization of reward and punishment system
The relevant agencies and experts responsible for a thorough analysis of that at this stage, should be taken to government involvement and a combination of market-oriented, regulatory penalties and encouragement means a combination of support in order to gradually form the source at the production hp pavilion dv6000 battery of lead-acid batteries, renewable finally lead users of the closed circle of corporate-style electric bikes integrated waste recycling lead-acid battery recycling system.
The experts put forward a special foam lunch boxes Shanghai Waste Management “white pollution” in the sense that each of the factory by the manufacturer of a disposable foam lunch boxes that withholding one-third of the money before meals and recovery of waste disposal charges, and then these costs for the construction of the city to promote recycling of waste plastics, renewable network. In their view, the ” ‘white’” to be successful hp pavilion dv5000 , fully embodies the “one who is responsible for production, the polluter pays” principle; draw on the useful experience, the same implement these two principles, the ” ‘black’” can also be wish is to enjoy a great progress.
Which experts suggest that the formation of the city as soon as possible vehicle of waste lead-acid battery recycling network. All electric bikes in Shanghai and lead-acid battery production and sale of businesses (including overseas sales companies in Shanghai) have an obligation to its own production and marketing of waste disposal of lead-acid batteries for recycling. They must join the recycling network, a public commitment to scrap the percentage of lead-acid hp pavilion dv4000 battery recycling, and methods to be implemented supervision; Or, as foam lunch boxes as manufacturers, according to the number of batteries sold (or weight), regular the relevant regulatory authorities to pay a certain amount of costs necessary for the recovery of network costs.
Strong support in the government sector under the premise of the city of Green Industry Association hp pavilion dv2000 battery, the Urban Bicycle Association will also be a positive electric bicycle organizations, lead-acid battery manufacturing plant and the electric bicycle repair shops and self-discipline to carry out activities to ensure the city’s waste lead-acid battery recycling the normal operation of the network, so as to waste lead-acid batteries to minimize the harm to a variety of hp pavilion dv1000 battery to maximize the utilization of resources.

As host of the opening ceremony of the forum, Dr. Huang said to the guests a warm welcome, and then introduced the purpose and significance of the forum. He pointed out that China’s lithium power after years of development, in the global lithium industry has occupied a pivotal position. China’s lithium lithium number of enterprises total global electricity for 82% of the total number of enterprises, production of lithium batteries, 31%, but sales of lithium battery is only 16%. Lithium the total inspiron 1521 battery number of enterprises in China, while production of small, it indicates that China’s lithium business in small-scale, low production efficiency. We hope that through this forum as a platform for national battery industry to send a message dell inspiron 1520 battery, innovation and development of the market, the times and the common policy is the only way to sustainable growth and to respond to global opportunities and challenges the best choice.
This is because China’s lower-quality lithium power and consistency of poor, with Japan and South Korea have greater lithium gap, high-end products dell inspiron 1300 battery have not yet reached the standards and requirements.
Geesun Automation Technology Co., Ltd. has the leadership to speak dell inspiron 1100 battery.
After the meeting, many guests have said that the forum was a great success and a complete, high-level, high levels of lithium for the Chinese enterprises and users with a platform to promote the lithium exchange between business peers and learning, promote China’s power industry sony vgp-bps9 battery to enhance lithium technological level and improve the quality of products, from manufacturing to the creative enterprise development, the world catch up with the level of lithium.

In 2006 the trend of China’s export of all types of batteries

According to the General Administration of Customs statistics, in 2005, China’s exports all types of batteries more than 22.2 billion, up 4%; export amount more than 5.1 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 28%, lithium-ion sony vgp-bps10 battery which 2.32 billion U.S. dollars with exports amounting to , accounting for 45% of total exports (see Table I). At present, China is the world’s largest manganese / alkaline manganese battery producer, is one of the world’s second-largest lithium-ion battery producer and exporter.
In 2005, China’s battery products are exported to the world more than 150 countries and regions, Asia is China’s largest exporter of battery, while the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has become China’s largest battery export transit. It is understood that China’s exports a quarter of batteries exported to Hong Kong first, and then re-exported to the world via Hong Kong to other countries and regions, some of which are imported through Hong Kong to the Mainland. The following are various types of compaq presario 1200 battery first half of this year the export of data (see Table II) analysis and forecast annual export: Mn, alkaline manganese batteries: the first half, China’s export of alkaline manganese batteries 2.21 billion, the amount of 153 million U.S. dollars export; general zinc-manganese batteries (manganese dioxide) 7000000000 exports, export amount of 365 million U.S. dollars. The year 2006 the export of alkaline manganese battery will rapidly increase, the annual growth rate will reach 20%, export volume will be more than 4.5 billion. Manganese dioxide batteries and general batteries directive by the European Union restrictions on mercury content, this year’s export volume will reduce the expected annual export volume of 14.5 billion, lower than in 2005 about 8 percent.
A lithium compaq presario 1700 battery: the first half of the export volume of lithium batteries for a 154 million and exports amounting to 23,040,000 U.S. dollars. China’s lithium batteries is expected to last the whole year will export more than 300 million, but the decline in export prices as a result of too fast, the amount of exports in 2005 may be flat or slightly down.
Ni-Cd batteries: the first half, China’s exports of nickel-cadmium compaq presario v2000 battery for 317 million and exports amounting to 148 million U.S. dollars. As a result of the European Union since July 1, 2006 implementation of the environmental directives RoHS, China’s exports to the EU future of nickel-cadmium battery will be reduced gradually. At the same time, China will be held March 1, 2007 started the implementation of “Electronic Information Products Pollution Control Management Measures”, the use of nickel-cadmium batteries may be subject to certain restrictions. The next few years is expected to nickel-cadmium batteries in consumer electronics products to decrease the amount, but the power tools, emergency lighting nickel-cadmium battery is still the major compaq presario v5000 battery markets.
Ni-MH battery: the first half, China’s exports of nickel-hydrogen batteries for 413 million and exports amounting to 256 million U.S. dollars, is expected in 2006 than in 2005 export volume growth of 10%, reaching 960 million. Due to the rising voice of the global environmental protection, nickel-hydrogen batteries will gradually occupied Ni-Cd batteries in consumer electronics market share.
Starting with lead-acid batteries: In 2005, starting with lead-acid compaq presario v4000 battery in China’s export volume and the same year, exports have increased by 34.6% year-on-year, mainly because of high lead prices lead to rising export prices caused by the battery. First half of this year, starting with lead-acid batteries in China export volume of 9.8 million, 87.5 million U.S. dollars of export amount is expected to the year 2006, export volume will grow by 7% ~ 10%. In recent years, starting with lead-acid batteries in China’s export volume growth has not been significant, the proposed restrictions on government departments lead the export of raw materials, high energy consumption, improve the lead-acid compaq presario r3000 battery products in the international market competitive advantage.
Other lead-acid batteries: mainly refers to other lead-acid battery VRLA compaq presario 2500 battery in recent years of China’s exports of such products is growing rapidly. The first half of VRLA battery in China export volume of 71.87 million and exports amounted to 407 million U.S. dollars, is expected to the year 2006 exports to grow 15% to 20%, exports to more than 160 million.
Lithium-ion batteries: the first half of the lithium-ion batteries have been exported 443 million, the amount of 1.29 billion U.S. dollars of export. Expected full-year 2006 exports of lithium-ion compaq presario 2100 battery will be more than 900 million, is expected to reach 950 million, over 20% annual growth rate.

Russia’s use of amorphous silicon in place of crystalline silicon solar cell manufacturing new

Russian Research Center well-known can be used to develop a new type of exploration of Mars solar cell dell latitude d600 battery, dell latitude d610 battery, and developed the use of low-cost or the inert gas krypton-argon detectors as fuel engine, the cost of exploration of Mars can be reduced by 80%%.

Russian researchers develop new solar cell is used instead of low-cost amorphous silicon solar cells in the expensive crystalline silicon or gallium arsenide semiconductor materials based on the successful development of the. Plated in the substrate than the growth of amorphous silicon films of monocrystalline silicon film is much cheaper, and technically easier. In order to increase the effective coefficient of solar cells, the researchers used a new technology: With a very thin laser beam in the amorphous silicon film to establish a “quantum pit.” This “quantum pit” is the size of 2 nm above the atomic structure. Them away from the 10 nanometer, strictly arranged in the surface film. These “quantum pit” is artificial in the amorphous film formed on the surface of the orderly state, performance is similar to single crystal. The researchers found in experiments, the efficiency of such a false single crystal single crystal and as good as real. Thus, this kind of “quantum pit” thin-film solar cells made of the cost will be greatly reduced. In addition, the researchers try to make solar cells instead of the substrate thickness of 100 microns, but 20-micron thin film made of steel dell latitude d620 battery, dell latitude d800 battery, but also further reduce the weight of solar cells, also means lower launch costs.

At the same time, the exploration of Mars in a reasonable way to and from the use of electricity from solar energy without the use of liquid fuels, the researchers developed a new use of krypton or argon gas engine, replace the use of expensive xenon engine. At present, the use of xenon fuel so the engine only in the use of small satellites, but the krypton than xenon or argon gas is much more expensive. The researchers found that, in the exploration of Mars, the ionization of the inert gas krypton cheap or argon can also be fuel for the engine to ensure sufficient energy.

Researchers with the Russian aerospace sector study found that if Russia’s aerospace sector had planned to be implemented in 2018 the need for exploration of Mars, then one hundred billion U.S. dollars, using the new solar cells and the use of krypton or argon gas as fuel engine can be reduce the cost to 20 billion U.S. dollars.

Raise the quality of the “China City”

China solar energy industry in Texas after years of development, gradually grow into the nation’s largest production base of solar energy, which can not be separated from the local quality and technology supervision department of the great support and help. It is because of the local quality supervision departments to actively guide companies to implement quality strategies to help businesses enhance the quality of management, strict quality control, Emperor Ming, 100 million can only come to the fore, such as well-known brands.

Around the quality supervision departments should be in administration by law dell latitude d810 battery, dell latitude d820 battery, strictly service economy, for development purposes in order to vigorously implement the quality strategy of the main line, and explore the building to adapt to a resource-saving and environment-friendly society demands and the characteristics of local economic development in terms of quality new ways of monitoring the work.

Recently, solar energy just from the show back in Hanoi, Vietnam, Shandong Texas Solar Energy Group Co., Ltd. Ming imperial overseas sales department is pleased to Xue Minister said: “With the excellent product quality, our products and again this year as a highlight of the exhibition, you signed a 200,000 U.S. dollars of the contract. ”

Budding solar energy industry in Texas 10 years ago. The city is committed to sustainable development, in the conventional energy-saving at the same time, to develop solar energy industry and foster economic sunshine. Driving them to adopt the policy, service driven, driven initiatives such as the typical, more than 100 million yuan each year, and more than 20% rate, thus the birth of the solar energy industry expansion has been the development of solar energy and related businesses more than 100 last year, the city’s production of solar energy more than 120 million square meters of water heaters, sales income 20 million, profits and taxes 200 million yuan breakthrough.

Ming Emperor of Texas Solar Energy Group Co., Ltd. is a growth and development of solar energy industry in microcosm. Less than 1995 enterprises from 10 people to rent houses, old factories started liabilities to employees are now more than 4,000 people, the country’s total 50,000 employees in more than China’s solar industry is the only Chinese brand names, national inspection-free products, the company well-known trademarks dell latitude d830 battery, dell latitude x300 battery in China brand value of 5.1 billion, China ranked fifth brand appliances, and has become the world’s largest manufacturing base of solar energy products.

Early in the plant, in order to help enterprises to enhance quality management, quality Dezhou numerous in-depth business and technical personnel on-site guidance, it is no wonder the company of a kind master guard that they are “dark capri pants, uniform personnel.” In 2002, Dezhou combination of enterprise quality features to help businesses to develop corporate standards, to help enterprises in line with international standards as soon as possible and organize professional and technical personnel to actively collect information on solar energy products with international standards and related information, carefully study the situation of international standards for enterprises to adopt international standards to provide technical basis. In January this year, Emperor Ming Solar Energy Group Co., Ltd. Production of household solar water heating systems has been adopting a certificate. In order to further strengthen the basis of the work of enterprises, 2002, Dezhou departments of enterprises and pressure gauge, vacuum gauge, such as inspection equipment 5 sets measurement standards established to improve the measurement detection system, to solve a large number of measuring instruments of enterprise production detection problem.

“In order to further cultivate, expand the industry, we are in all respects for them to open up the green channel.” Dezhou Stone of Quality and Technical Supervision Kaixing Secretary said that in order to better products for the enterprise to strict quality control, product quality supervision Dezhou acquired by specialized test voltage tester, power meter, insulation resistance tester and other equipment for the Emperor Ming Group Co., Ltd. solar water heater testing. In a test, technicians found the product online with leakage power switch, and the design of such products do not meet the technical standards for safety appliances provided by Dezhou quality technical staff immediately made its production process improvements, and finally Finally, the leakage would be unreasonable to change the switch to ensure safe and reliable product quality.

By the end of June last year, the company manufactures tube plant has a number of measuring instruments to the test cycle, and there was a group of business users just received emergency orders. In order to ensure normal production and business and quality control personnel who conducted a workshop on-line inspection. Summer in June, combined with the unique solar products, the temperature of the workshop, quality control personnel in the last 50 ℃ under high-temperature testing, debugging, 4 days after finally finished testing the measurement apparatus. As in the letter of thanks to the Board wrote: “Thank you train with good quality of a professional team dell latitude d510 battery, dell latitude d520 battery, in their eyes there is no heat, only the consistent high service and passion for work.”

In 2005, Emperor winning numbers 100 million solar water heaters and solar water heater can be licensed by the Chinese brand, has become a national inspection-free products.

With the local leading enterprises of the “excellent quality of the people”, driven the rapid development of related industries. Have signed a number of solar energy industry, settled in Texas. High-calcium sodium borosilicate glass to glass production line of a total investment of five million U.S. dollars, of which the glass company funded four million U.S. dollars; high boron silicon products project power from Jinan Connaught Group owned 65 million yuan investment to build. Texas chain of solar industry also extends to the vacuum tube collector, solar energy battery components, photovoltaic systems, solar lighting systems, solar traffic lights, energy-saving glass screen temperature, solar energy products, such as the integration of architecture, street lamps installed in Shanghai, Anqing, Hulunbeier, Zhengzhou, Xisha Yongxing Island, such as dozens of cities and regions, photovoltaic power generation system is about to enter Rome. Invest one billion yuan, 10 billion yuan in output value over the design of the demonstration area of international environmental protection and energy saving projects have been activated in Texas. Industrial clustering effect so that Texas has become a veritable dell kd476 battery “Sun City.” By 2010, this will be the construction of 500 solar cell, solar villages, 500, solar energy and related industries reached 500 billion yuan, accounting for the national market share of 1 / 3. In the “sunrise industry” of the lead, “Sun City” healthy development of the economy, to build resource-saving society to play their “heat.”
